One Touch

Monday Praises centered around the song “One Touch” by Nicole C. Mullin.  The song is derived from the story of the woman who touched the hem of Jesus’ garment.  Let me recap the story from you.

Mark 5:25-33

25 A woman was there who had been bleeding for twelve years.26 She had suffered a lot under the care of many doctors, and had spent everything she had without getting any better. In fact, she had gotten worse. 27 Because she had heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his clothes. 28 She was thinking, If I can just touch his clothes, I’ll be healed. 29 Her bleeding stopped immediately, and she sensed in her body that her illness had been healed.

30 At that very moment, Jesus recognized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched my clothes?”

31 His disciples said to him, “Don’t you see the crowd pressing against you? Yet you ask, ‘Who touched me?’” 32 But Jesus looked around carefully to see who had done it.

33 The woman, full of fear and trembling, came forward. Knowing what had happened to her, she fell down in front of Jesus and told him the whole truth. 34 He responded, “Daughter, your faith has healed you; go in peace, healed from your disease.”

Oh!  What faith!  To know that just the touch of even the end of Christ’s robe could offer healing where doctors never could.  And it did!  Just one touch!  Twelve long years she had suffered.  She was broke and alone with no hope and no answers.  But the Messiah was in town… He was her only hope. (is there anyone else who hears Princess Leah’s voice echoing in her head? “Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.” Just me?  Never mind…)

She wasn’t looking for a Jedi Master… she was looking for a Savior.  And, boy!, did she ever find one!

Do you have that kind of faith?  Truly… do I?  Oh!  But I want to!!

I did not plan for this to become a week-long series… but I find it has taken a very long time to type these very few words.  I find myself in the midst of a video project with a tight deadline.  As I scan picture after picture, I find the time to type a few words (literally) in-between.  But, I am not finished with this story!

So, I am leaving you with the same music video from yesterday… just in case you missed it.  OR if you are wanting to listen again.  Sing along.  It is becoming a prayer for me, and I hope it touches you as well.
