It’s Advent, friends!! What a joyous time of the year!! There is nothing more exciting than preparing for the coming of our Savior. Welcoming a new-born babe in a manger, seemingly so small and ordinary, who will grow to become the Savior of the entire world!
During the month of December, I will be celebrating the coming and the birth of our Lord.
Today I am looking at Matthew 1: 18-25, Joseph’s side of the story. Instead of sharing the scripture (which I still encourage you to read!), I am sharing this:
Oh the strength and faith of Joseph! When society would have cheered him on for throwing out an unfaithful woman, he had honor and chose to quietly dismiss her without embarrassment. He may even have decided he would look in on her from time to time to make sure she had all she needed, but truly she was not his problem anymore.
But a heavenly visit changed all of that. He had the faith to trust what the angel had said was true. And he fulfilled his duty. He was the earthly father that cared for our Savior as He grew up.
Today I am thankful for Jesus’ earthly parents. They had such a daunting task, but they were faithful to the end. And because of their faith, we have our Savior!
These scriptures are affording me a few days off as I have combined 2 days of readings into one. I will see you soon! Enjoy your family and friends and all the richness of God’s blessings!
