Not-so-Wordless Wednesday: On the Farm (and a parable)

We recently spent a beautiful Sunday evening with our youth on the farm.  It was a fun-filled evening of bonfires, roasted weinies, smores, corn mazes, pumpkin chunkin’, and fellowship!

Our youth leader, Nancy, did a great devotion from the children’s book The Parable of the Pumpkin (find it here).  It was a beautiful story, comparing our lives with a pumpkin: our lives filled with sin as the pumpkin is filled with goop; God removes the sin as the farmer removes the goop; He gives us eyes to seek Him and mouths to praise His name; and when we are filled with the Holy Spirit we will shine Jesus in all that we do, just as the pumpkin shines the light of its candle.  Great story!  It may not be jack-o-lantern season anymore, but it is still pumpkin season.  I truly recommend this story to parents!!  It added to our night… yep, even the teens!

2 Corinthians 4:6 (NLT) For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.
