The idea is to write for five minutes flat. No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.
When you are young, you get yourself caught in a tight grip that you cannot loosen and you cry “uncle”.
Now we are older. We get ourselves in tight spots… do we cry “uncle”? If we did, would the torture end? Would our deadlines be extended? Would our bills be forgiven or paid? Would life suddenly get easier?
No, in the adult real world, you cannot cry “uncle”… you cannot even get a do-over. But there is a solution. We can cry “Mercy” to our heavenly Father.
We are up to our necks in sin. “Mercy”. We are tired and stressed from our daily grind. “Mercy”. We are lost and alone. “Mercy”.
Instead of crying “uncle”, let us cry out to our Heavenly Father! Let us ask for His mercy and watch as He not only provides for our needs, but gives us rest. He gives us love and compassion in a world full of torture and headlocks… God is our rock. His grace is sufficient. He will carry you. Always.
Hebrews 4:16 (NIV) Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
