I LOVE Five Minute Friday!! Today, Lisa Jo is hosting FMF at (in)courage. Join me there. The FMF posts you will see there will truly bless you!
The idea is to write for five minutes flat. No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.
TODAY’S WORD: WORSHIP
The pavilion is crowded as they all await the singer on stage. The man turns to his wife and daughter and sees the excitement on their faces. This is not his thing: this Christian music… but he knows they are happy and that makes it all worth while.
The singer comes out and the crowd roars. Like other rock concerts he’s been to, the crowd jumps to their feet and starts to sing along. He joins in.
The songs are somewhat familiar. He has heard his wife singing them in the car and at the sink doing dishes. They’re not bad. They have a good beat. It is something he can kinda get into. Kinda.
But then the crowd lifts their hands to the sky. They are all still singing, but some are crying and shouting amen. He turns to his wife. Her arms are up too. Looking down at his little girl, who can barely see the stage over the heads of the people in front of her… she is raising her hands to the sky.
Did he miss something? Is this a part of the song? A special dance he is unaware of? No… this seems different. This seems special. This is worship.
This concert, this Christian rock and roll artist, is singing to the Lord. People are worshiping. Here. In this hot sweaty pavilion on this summer day. He is uncomfortable with raising his arms, lifting his hands to Jesus. But he decides to just let go and let Jesus in.
DON’T FORGET! Monday I am hosting our weekly link up of praise! Link your posts of praise to God, pictures of praise, or even videos/audio files of praise and worship music. It is all about lifting praise to our Father. We link up every Monday, so maybe this will help us all focus on finding reasons to praise and ways to praise our Heavenly Father. I hope you all join me!
