This week I am sharing our experiences in planning, preparing for, and celebrating the Rhett Walker Band concert for our church. I began the week with video from the concert, then shared info of how we got the ball rolling on the concert, shared some great photos of the evening’s fun, talked about the prep for the big event, and ended with how awesome the event went that night.
The evening had been a huge success. We loaded the boys back into their van and trailer and waved them goodbye. We set about breaking down concessions and sound equipment and putting the venue back into order. It was an exhausting evening and we were running off pure adrenaline… but we were so very satisfied with the results. But we didn’t realize how satisfied we would be.
But God knew.
I had said from the beginning that our goal for the event should be to raise the first tier of our A/V project, which was $10,000. The naysayers felt we would be lucky if we broke even. They shook their heads and said there would be no way we could raise $10K with only 425 seats. They said we would be lucky if we made $8K. But that isn’t what HE said.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (MSG) No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.
After expenses, we cleared just under $11K. In addition to what was raised at the concert, memorial contributions were given to the A/V fund that would help us not only pay for the first tier, but also be well on our way to completing the second. People, God is good!!
Colossians 3:23 (NCV) In all the work you are doing, work the best you can. Work as if you were doing it for the Lord, not for people.
Raising the money was a great thing. But truly, we would have made that goal eventually. God had a bigger purpose than just raising money. He was bringing people into His Kingdom.
Out of sheer love for my husband, a lot of unchurched people came to help him with the event… and they stayed because they enjoyed the message. They were surprised at how much fun they had. They were amazed at how easy it was to offer praises to God. And it was Christian Rock music… not the stuffy music they were expecting. Seeds were planted. And now God can prepare the harvest.
Romans 8:28 (NCV) We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. They are the people he called, because that was his plan.
I serve a Risen Lord. And we He calls, I hope I will always willingly answer and boldly go where He leads me. He has proven to me time and again that He has my back.
1 Peter 4:11b (CEV) Everything should be done in a way that will bring honor to God because of Jesus Christ, who is glorious and powerful forever. Amen.
Thanks for sticking with me through the whole story. I give God all the glory! He is amazing! He is faithful!
