I have been reading from Praying God’s Word for Your Husband. It is a very good book. But I have to be honest… I am not finding what I am needing at this moment in those pages. But, through reading her beautifully written prayers (based on God’s scriptures) I am making a choice to take matters into my own hands.
Hubby’s biggest issue is patience. He is the first to admit it. And lately with planning the concert, his lack of patience has become a lot more evident. Knowing God as I do, I know He is using this concert as a training for Hubby. Maybe preparing him for something to come. Or maybe just teaching him a lesson in patience. Whatever it is, Hubby is in the midst of a battle and it is my job to support.
One thing I have learned from Kathi Lipp so far is taking God’s scriptures and turning them into prayers.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let you hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:26-27)
I pray my husband would know your peace and feel it. Lord, I pray that he looks not to the world for answers but to you. I pray that he would not be consumed with fear and anxiety but that he would have an untroubled heart.
See how “easy” that is? Delve into the word and use God’s scriptures to pray over your husband. The bible says God’s word will not return void, so how better to pray than through God’s word?
Since there is no chapter on praying for your husband’s patience (although the prayer I shared from “When He Feels Overwhelmed” still seems to hit the mark), I am going to offer up my own prayer for Hubby and pray it over him all week.
I chose Luke 8:15:
And the seed that fell on the good ground is like those who hear God’s teaching with good, honest hearts and obey it and patiently produce good fruit. (NCV)
But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. (NIV)
Dear Father, Please stand with Hubby and keep him strong. His heart is noble and good. Help him to remain steadfast in You and obey Your will. Help him to see Your plan unfold as he works tirelessly to plan this event in Your name and for Your glory. Give him patience to see it through. Give him perseverance to produce the good crop You intend. Help him to do all of this to Your glory.
I encourage you to continue to pray for your husband. Whatever trial he may be facing at this moment, pray him up. Whatever needs he needs to have met, pray him up. Like I said, I will be praying this prayer over Hubby all week. I will keep you updated on how I see the Spirit move. I would love to hear how this goes for you as well.
